Manic Panic Rockabilly Blue met Manic Panic Violet Night roots (met Manic Panic virgin snow - toner als base)
As it still had lots of yellow and orange tints after the bleaching but I did not have another bleachkit I used the Manic Panic virgin snow - toner on my hair before applying the Rockabilly Blue & Violet Night. As my roots had still some yellow tones I decided to use the Violet Night as it's a purple shade with a blue undertone but the purple will neutralise the leftover yellow/orange. The Rockabilly Blue was put on the mids and ends where the hair was nearly white or very light yellow (which will make the blue fade to greenish seafoam in time) My daughter did put the colour on this time as it was 2toned. Hence the little imperfections. But I will touch it up very quickly. But I love it to pieces!
How does this hair colour make you feel?
Always wanted blue hair as it has that kick-ass vibe. A little melancholic but also very powerful. Ideal to fight of the feeling of helplessness that this lockdown has brought to me.
How was your hair before you applied the colour (ie pre-bleached, growing out old colour, etc)?
I was growing out my old colour (Cleo Rose) for quite some time but as I wanted to have the vibrance I had to bleach my dark brown hair. I used the Manic Panic Flashlightning bleach kit 40%.
What is your favourite hair dye brand and what is so great about it?
Manic Panic without a doubt. It's perfect for my hair, the colour stays very nice for very long. My hair feels fabulous. And it's founded in my birth year sooo that's a nice tidbit of info.
Your no.1 advice for dyeing your own hair is:
Always make sure your hair has no traces of hairproducts or conditioner/masks left before you dye it. The left over products might "protect" your hair from effectively being dyed so you get blotches of uncoloured hair.
Never forget your hair has its own colour so it will influence the colour of the dye unless you bleached it snow white. So TEST it on a small stand of hair first if you're very heartset on a certain colour/shade/hue! I know all the instructions say this but when I read the ratings/comments on certain dyes it seems not many people believe this: BELIEVE IT AND TEST! ;-)
